“God? Are you there??? Are you real? Do you love me like they say you do? I just don’t know God. I’m not sure. You seem so unreal… so untouchable… so far away. Sometimes God I just need to actually feel loved. I feel so empty. Are you there God???”
I can imagine we’ve all prayed a prayer like that at some time or another. Especially during times of pain and deep hurt. When I was a kid I was constantly trying to “reach God”. I wanted Him to make my step-dad stop hurting me. I wanted Him to take away the pain. I wanted to feel loved.
Little did I know He was hurting with me. He felt my pain and heard my cry. Little did I know He already loved me deeply. But I was so out of touch with how to connect with Him, that it just magnified my pain. I believed God didn’t love me either. It took many years before I came to believe that He did because I didn’t understand how to receive His love.
The Bible clearly says that God loved each one of us enough that He sent His Son to die for us so we could live through all eternity with Him! (John 3:16) In other words, He loved you and I so much that He sent His Son, His beloved Son, to die a horrible, painful, crushing death just so you and I could spend all of eternity loving Him and basking in His love for us. He wanted us to know His love in a personal, deep and passionate way. Being with Him in heaven for all eternity would guarantee we would know Him like that.
But He didn’t stop there. He loved us so much that when He sent His Son to die for us, it wasn’t just to give us that “get out of jail for free” card. Because it wasn’t free. It cost Him His Son! He also did it so we could live this brief life here on earth in a different way. NOT bound up by sin! NOT crushed by circumstances! NOT defeated by satan! NOT overwhelmed with life! His intent was for us to live a healed, whole, healthy and prosperous life in EVERY AREA of our lives. He provided all of that for us from the foundation of the world. The Cross sealed a life of victory for us.
However, He also loved us so much that He gave us the gift of choice. We get to choose:
- to live for Him
- to live for the world
- to live for ourselves
- or to live for satan
It’s our choice. He didn’t make us into robots. He made us to be free in every area! Including the area of choice. That’s one part of His love in operation! But if you don’t know about His love, if you don’t know about the life of Victory that He has for you… if you don’t know to believe and apply His Word in EVERY area of your life, you’ll not live the life of His Child. His beloved child! His favorite child!
Here’s the thing, if you’ve accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you’ll go to Heaven when you die. But your time here on earth will be limited to what you can personally do, accomplish and figure out with the small amount of faith you may or may not have. It will be limited by you… not God… but you. But God has much much more for you! You only have to spend time in His Word listening, learning and growing to begin to see that.
Are you ready to get rid of the limits you’ve put on your life? Spend time in God’s Word! Believe God’s Word. Live God’s Word! Become the child of God He has called you to be and walk in all the blessings that He has for you! He loves you! OF COURSE He’s provided more for you than what you are currently walking in. That’s what a loving Father does! You haven’t experienced even a portion of all that God has for you. But you can experience it! If you want to!
It starts with you and what you do with your time in His Word. If you believe what He says to you and about you… if you receive His love for you… you’ll begin to experience a life of victory as His child that you’ve never experienced before! Believe me when I say, it’s an AMAZING life to experience when you fully begin to walk in your place as God’s kid! He’s a GREAT daddy! I didn’t have a great one growing up… but I do now! How about you?
It’s time to take off the limits! It’s time to receive God’s love for you. It’s time to renew your mind with God’s Word instead of what you’ve always believed or thought! That’s what Romans 12:2 is talking about:
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)
When we renew our mind with God’s Word, by believing what He says to and about us, we’re giving Him His own Word to work with so our minds can be transformed! There is nothing more anointed and powerful than God and His Word. It WILL transform us if we fill our minds with it!
It’s time to experience His love for you today! It’s time to experience His will! It’s time to experience His relationship with you as His kid! You can… you really can… if you want to.
Praying for you!
